The World's Gone Quiet

All the thoughts in my head

Your Kisses

Your kisses are a fine red wine

But I’m a light-weight

And I don’t make good decisions when I’m drunk.

A Thousand Words

If you were to slice into my veins

A thousand words would spill out in red

All of my unspoken cries written in blood on the floor

Would someone hear me then?

The Tragic Truth

We all like to think that we’re unforgettable

And it just about ruins us when we realize the tragic truth-

We are all so easily replaceable.

Good Girl

Silly, naive, good girl
You made one mistake that will haunt you for the rest of your life
You thought the worst part would be the self-loathing
Or the insecurity that followed
But it turned out that the worst part was watching the atmosphere around you change
Suddenly it was like the world turned on you, without a second look
You watched as friends walked away because of the choice you made
Forget the promises they made you, the promises of “life-long” and “forever”
It’s your fault they’re gone, you created this mess when you unbuttoned your pants
And those girls who used to call you prude in middle school
Now whisper “slut” behind your back
And if they say it, it must be true, right?
Good girl, you have no right to cry
You could’ve said no
So swallow your tears because the world doesn’t care
Because God forbid you ever mess up
God forbid you stain your little white panties with red
God forbid you show that you’re not perfect.

Inside of her head is a masterpiece

A complicated, beautiful imagination that could heal the world

If only she could believe in herself.

6 Word Tragedy

BANG! They won’t tease me anymore.

The Photographer

A million memories thrown across her bed

Each picture with a story to tell

Friends, lovers, family

She swears it’s a way to document the important moments in life

But it’s also a painful reminder that she can’t relive the memories,

As much as she wishes she could go back

And little pieces of her are left with each photo she takes

So now she is a girl torn apart by the past,

With not a whole lot left of her to move forward

Now she prefers to stay back and capture moments

Without getting fully involved in the world around her

Because life is simply easier

When she is safely living it behind her lens.
